Finding a House Series

My First House Tour 2018

I am in the process of starting to look for my new house and maybe turn it into a home. I think it would be cool if I’ll make you all part of this journey. You probably have a pretty good recommendation.

I’ll be showing you the interior of the house. A quick house tour to get a quick feel of everything.  I’ll do privately the scrutiny of the exterior and the house functions after this.   This home is in  Marietta and it’s one of John Weiland Homes. This location might be where I’ll consider moving to. We’ll see.

Remember, finding a house is more than meets the eye. You shouldn't be overly impressed by a house that looks and smells nice on the outside. (You can, however, be rightly appalled by a home that looks and smells atrocious.- www.realtor.com)

What to look when buying a house?

Make a list of your needs and the purpose of each need. Research if you must. Get your search off on the right foot. Considerations in finding a new house vary from person to person, as for me here are some:

irst, I'll prioritize my needs over my wants. Recognize what needs to be repaired and maintained first. Before anything else, check the gutter or the sewage system because that matters. Before you even check out what's inside the house, remember, don't judge a room by its beautiful interior design. It's more than just about the artwork. So, check what lies beneath.

Neighborhood

C

ompactness and proximity of the houses. As much as possible the houses should not be in close proximity to each other. I need a breather. I need a space. I want a neighborhood that is not too close yet too far away as well. A safe and friendly neighborhood should be considered too. As they say, you can change everything but not your neighbors.

The Location Site for your Lifestyle

B

eyond the neighborhood, look at the site of the home. I'd prefer a view, maybe a backyard. Your home should reflect your lifestyle. Are you a runner, or a plant lover, artesian, would you prefer a Victorian over contemporary. Is the landscaping attractive? Are the sidewalks leading to the home safe?

The Size and the Floor Plan

B

e Practical. Do you really need four bedrooms and four baths when you live alone? Will you be needing two home office or more for your various crafts and art projects. Be proactive in deciding about your home's size and floor plan.

Bathrooms and Laundry Rooms

D

ecide how many bedrooms and bathrooms you really need, and only settle if these meet your criteria. Renovations is an additional expenses just in case. It would be a shame to fall in love with a cozy, charming bathroom or laundry room that just isn't big enough for you. An extra bedroom is always a plus, as it can be used for a home office, craft studio, or guest room. Come to think of it , if you'll be adding more rooms later, you need to consult an architect who can advise you on space planning, lot usage, and city regulations and another long process. You can always remodel, but it's very costly. This goes with every other room of the house.

Extra Room for Storage, or any multi-purpose room, the closet area.

I

t's always handy to have another room, other than a guest room or home office, you might be needing a craft studio in the future or something else. A room you can convert for multipurpose. For me, this extra room is the heart of my home. It is where my art will be stocked. The Windows and Lighting, I'd prefer a home with abundant light and sunshine. Where light can just creep in and out. I'd prefer a bright house. House Elements
A fireplace is an important element for me. If you keep these specific elements of a home in mind, your house hunting will be more successful, and you'll likely end up with the home of your dreams.

Quote of the day: Changing a home and looking for another one could be hard to some but knowing that change is the most consistent thing and accepting that change is inevitable prepare us mentally.
